Twelve men who were heads of their fathers' houses spent forty days spying out the land of Canaan. When they saw the land it was as the LORD had said. However, ten of them gave a bad report and only Caleb and Joshua believed the LORD. The rest saw the giants in the land and would not go in."Then Caleb quieted the people before Moses, and said, 'Let us go up at once and take possession, for we are well able to overcome it.'" But they looked for a leader to take them back to Egypt. Joshua and Caleb tore their clothes; they tried to encourage the people to go in and possess their inheritance and not to rebel against the LORD but the people wanted to stone them. Then the glory of the LORD appeared; the LORD spoke to Moses and told him that He would destroy the rebellious ones but Moses pleaded for forgiveness for their iniquity and transgression and the LORD heeded him. Nevertheless, the LORD later destroyed all the rebellious of the children of Israel in the wilderness. They lost their protection when they refused to go in to the promised land. So they were commanded to leave the place where they were but instead they went and fought and were defeated. For their punishment, He turned forty days they spent exploring the land into forty years in the wilderness. The laws of grain and drink offerings were instituted as well as the law concerning presumptuous sin. The penalty for violating the Sabbath was death. When the Lord gives you a command, don't look at the giants, fix your eyes on Jesus; your battle will be won and you will possess your possession, in Jesus name. AMEN!!
